Tips for a better DNI photo

  • Use a plain, uniform white background with no shadows.
  • Face the camera with your head uncovered and your face fully visible.
  • Make sure the photo is sharp and recent: under six months old.
  • Print on photo paper: plain paper isn’t accepted.

The official rules decide, and they change. This tool helps you meet the rules it knows, but it can’t promise a photo will be accepted: check the official page, and ask the office if in doubt.

In millimetres: 26 × 32 mm.

How to make a DNI photo

  1. Take a photo against a plain white wall, facing the camera, with your head uncovered, or choose a recent one.
  2. Check the framing and the checks: a white, even background and your eyes level.
  3. Make your photos and print the sheet at 100% on photo paper, then cut along the lines.

Questions

What size is a DNI photo?

32 mm high and 26 mm wide, in colour, on a uniform, plain white background, taken from the front with the head uncovered and without dark glasses. The rules give no head size, so the tool uses the usual 70–80% of the height.

Is the passport photo the same?

Yes, about 32 × 26 mm on a plain white background; consulates accept a width of up to 40 mm. Print it on photo paper, not plain paper.

Do I need to bring a photo?

Some offices take it for you: the rules let documentation units with the equipment take the photo automatically. Check with your office when you book.

Can I wear glasses?

Not dark ones, nor anything that makes you harder to identify. Clear glasses without glare are generally accepted for the passport, but taking them off is the safest choice.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser on this device: framing, the checks, the background and the print sheet. Your face photo is never sent to a server, and nothing is kept once you close the page.
