It’s the recipe for the sheet. The same settings and code always make exactly the same problems, so you can print the answer key later, or give two classes the same sheet. New sheet makes a fresh code; you can also type one in. The code is printed at the foot of the sheet.

Across writes each problem on one line (24 + 18 = ___). Stacked puts the numbers under each other in columns, the way children learn to carry and borrow, and shows long division with its bracket so there’s room to work. Stacked is offered for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and decimals.

No column adds up to 10 or more, so nothing is carried (and for subtraction, no column needs borrowing). It’s the first step for 2- and 3-digit sums. “With carrying or borrowing” makes sure every problem needs it at least once, and “Some of each” mixes the two.

You can write 5/4 or 1 1/4 for the same answer. An answer with the right value that isn’t in simplest form, like 6/8 for 3/4, is marked “Simplify it” rather than wrong, and the answer key always shows the simplest form.

Yes. Every problem has an answer box. Check answers marks each one gently, with a tick or “Try again”, and Show answers lists the answers. Nothing typed is sent anywhere.

Press Print, then choose Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF) as the printer. The PDF has the worksheet first and the answer key on its own page, so you can print just the pages you need.
