How to practice math facts
- Pick what to practice: adding, taking away, times, dividing, or a mix.
- Choose a level: numbers up to 10 (tables to 5), up to 20 (tables to 10) or up to 100 (tables to 12).
- Choose how to play, then answer with the big number buttons or the keyboard. Facts you miss come back sooner, and three right in a row earns a star.
Questions
Which level should my child start with?
Level 1 for children who are starting out: adding and taking away with numbers up to 10, and the 1 to 5 times tables. Move up when most answers come quickly and confidently. A mix of adding and taking away helps children see how the two fit together.
Can answers be below zero?
Not unless you choose it. Taking away always starts with the bigger number, so answers are 0 or more. Older children can switch on answers below zero, and the number pad then gets a minus key.
Does dividing ever leave a remainder?
No. Every division question comes from a times table, like 56 ÷ 7 = 8, so the answer is always a whole number, and nothing is ever divided by zero.
Does my child have to race the clock?
No. Practice and Missing number have no clock. In the 60-second challenge, Pause stops the clock and More time adds 20 seconds as often as needed.
Is anything saved or sent?
Stars, stickers, the daily streak and best scores are kept in this browser on this device only. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, and there’s no account. “For grown-ups” on the page has a button to clear it all.
