Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser on this device. Your text is never uploaded or stored, so it’s safe to paste private documents.
How are words counted?
Words are separated by spaces, as in Microsoft Word and Google Docs. Hyphenated words and contractions such as “don’t” count as one word. In Chinese and Japanese, each character counts as a word.
How is reading time worked out?
Reading time assumes 238 words a minute, the average for adults reading silently. Speaking time assumes 140 words a minute, a comfortable pace for a talk or presentation.
Are spaces counted as characters?
Characters counts every letter, number, space and punctuation mark, and an emoji counts as one character. Characters without spaces leaves out spaces, tabs and line breaks.
