Base64 encoder and decoder

Encode text as Base64 or decode Base64 back to text, with emoji and accents handled correctly and a URL-safe option. Nothing you paste leaves your browser.

Questions

Is what I paste sent anywhere?

No. Encoding and decoding happen in your browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded or stored, so it’s safe to decode real tokens, keys and customer data.

What is URL-safe Base64?

It uses - and _ instead of + and /, and usually leaves out the = padding, so the result can go in a web address or file name unchanged. JWTs use it. When decoding, both kinds are accepted.

Why does it say the result isn’t text?

Base64 can hold any data: images, PDFs, compressed or encrypted data. If the decoded bytes aren’t UTF-8 text, they’re shown as hexadecimal, and you can download them as a file.

Does it work with emoji and accents?

Yes. Text is turned into UTF-8 bytes before encoding, the standard on the web, so emoji, accents and every alphabet come back exactly as they were.
