How to practice the times tables
- Pick one or more tables to practice, such as the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
- Choose how to play: Practice with no clock, a 60-second challenge to beat your best, or Missing number (7 × ? = 56).
- Type each answer with the big number buttons or the keyboard. Facts you miss come back more often, and three right in a row earns a star.
Questions
What’s the best way to learn the times tables?
A little and often. A few minutes a day works better than one long session. Start with the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, then add 3 and 4, and leave 6, 7, 8 and 12 for later. Use the chart to spot patterns, like the 9 times table’s digits always adding up to 9.
How do the stars work?
Each fact, like 7 × 8, earns a star when it’s answered right three times in a row. Stars never go away. The star grid shows which facts are known and which need more practice.
Does the game get harder?
It adapts. Facts that were missed come back sooner and more often, and facts with a star come up less, so practice goes where it’s needed.
Does my child have to play against the clock?
No. Practice and Missing number have no clock at all. The 60-second challenge can be paused at any time, and More time adds 20 seconds whenever it’s needed.
Can I print the multiplication chart?
Yes. Press Print chart for a clear black-and-white chart from 1 to 12 on one page, ready for a wall or a homework folder.
Is anything saved or sent?
Stars, stickers, the daily streak and best scores are kept in this browser on this device only. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, and there’s no account. “For grown-ups” on the page has a button to clear it all.
