Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser does all the work on this device. The files are never sent to a server, so there is nothing for anyone to store, read or leak.

Does adding a watermark change my text?

No. The watermark is added on top of each page and nothing else is touched: your text stays sharp, and you can still select, copy and search it. Links, bookmarks and form fields are kept as they were.

Can someone remove the watermark?

A watermark marks a document; it doesn’t lock it. Anyone with a PDF editor can delete or cover it, as with watermarks made by any other tool. To stop people opening the PDF without your permission, add a password with Protect PDF as well.

Which characters can I use in a text watermark?

Letters with accents such as é, ñ, ç and ã, numbers and common symbols, because the watermark is real text in the standard PDF font Helvetica. That font has no Chinese, Arabic or Cyrillic characters or emoji, so for those, save your text as a picture and use it as an image watermark.
