Questions
What’s the time difference between CST and EST?
One hour: 2:00 PM in Chicago is 3:00 PM in New York. Both switch to daylight saving time (CDT and EDT) on the same Sunday in March and back on the same Sunday in November, so the difference doesn’t change.
Which states are on Central Time?
All or most of Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas and Texas. Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Florida are split between Central and Eastern Time, so check which side of the line a city is on.
Does Mexico City use CST?
It used to change its clocks with the US, but Mexico stopped daylight saving time in 2022. Mexico City is on UTC−6 all year: the same as Chicago in winter, and an hour behind it from March to November.
When can both time zones meet?
Nearly all day: with 9-to-5 hours, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern is 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Central. A 9:00 AM Eastern call is 8:00 AM in Texas and the Midwest.
