How to convert HSL to HEX

  1. Type or paste an HSL color, such as hsl(39, 100%, 50%).
  2. Read the HEX value at the top, with every other format under it. It updates as you type.
  3. Copy what you need, and check how readable the color is on white and on black.

Questions

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Colors are converted in your browser on this device, as you type, and nothing is stored.

How is HSL turned into HEX?

The hue picks the color on the wheel, and saturation and lightness say how strong and how light it is. That gives red, green and blue values from 0 to 255, each written as two hexadecimal digits: hsl(39, 100%, 50%) is rgb(255, 166, 0), so #ffa600.

Which ways of writing HSL work?

hsl(39, 100%, 50%), hsla(39, 100%, 50%, 0.5), the newer hsl(39 100% 50% / 50%), and hue units such as 39deg, 0.11turn or 0.68rad.
