How to remove duplicate lines
- Paste your list into the box, one item per line.
- Choose the options: ignore case, trim spaces, which copy to keep, and an order.
- Copy the result or download it as a text file. The counts show how many lines were removed.
Questions
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser on this device. Your text is never uploaded or stored, so it’s safe to paste private documents.
Which copy of a repeated line is kept?
The first one, where it was, unless you choose to keep the last. With Ignore case on, “Apple” and “apple” count as the same line, and the copy kept is written as it was.
What’s the difference between A to Z and Natural?
A to Z compares lines letter by letter, so “item 10” comes before “item 2”. Natural reads numbers inside lines as numbers, so “item 2” comes before “item 10”. By number sorts by the first number in each line, and lines with no number go last.
Are empty lines treated as duplicates?
No. Empty lines are removed only when Remove empty lines is on. Otherwise they stay where they are, so blocks of text keep their spacing.
