Free online screen recorder
Record your whole screen, a window or a browser tab, with your microphone, the tab’s sound and your webcam in a corner. Nothing to install and nothing uploaded: the video stays on your device until you save it.
This browser can’t record the screen
Phone and tablet browsers can’t share the screen with a web page. Use your device’s own screen recorder instead:
iPhone and iPad: open Control Centre and tap Screen Recording (add it in Settings → Control Centre if it isn’t there).
Android: swipe down twice to open Quick Settings and tap Screen record.
On a computer, open this page in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

Keyboard shortcuts
- R
- Start recording, or stop
- P
- Pause or resume
They work anywhere on this page except while typing in a box.
If it doesn’t work
Nothing happens, or sharing is blocked
- Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording (Screen Recording on older versions): turn on your browser, then quit and reopen it.
- Windows: Screen sharing needs no setting, but some company computers turn it off. Ask whoever looks after the computer.
There’s no sound from the tab or computer
- Chrome and Edge: Tick Tab or system audio before you start, then turn on the sound option when you choose a tab (or the whole screen on Windows and ChromeOS). On a Mac it’s usually offered only for tabs.
- Firefox and Safari: They don’t share tab or system sound. Use your microphone, or record in Chrome or Edge.
The microphone or webcam is blocked
- Allow them for this site as in the mic test and webcam test, or untick them to record the screen alone.
The recording stops by itself
- It stops when the shared window or tab closes, or when you select Stop sharing. What was recorded until then is kept for you to download.
Recordings stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded.

Questions
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser records the screen and makes the video file on this device. It’s never sent to a server, so nobody else can see it. Download it before you close the tab: the recording is gone once the page is closed.
Can I record the sound from my computer?
In Chrome and Edge, yes: tick Tab or system audio, then turn on the option to share the tab’s audio when you choose a tab. On Windows and ChromeOS you can also share the whole system’s sound when you share the entire screen. Firefox and Safari don’t share tab or system sound, but your microphone works in every browser.
Should I save as MP4 or WebM?
MP4 plays almost everywhere: phones, Windows, Macs and video editors. WebM is a little smaller and plays in browsers, VLC and most editors. Chrome, Edge and Safari record MP4 directly; other browsers record WebM, and the page converts it to MP4 on your device after you stop, when the browser can.
Can I record my screen on a phone or tablet?
Phone and tablet browsers can’t share the screen with a web page. Use the recorder built into your device instead: on an iPhone or iPad, Screen Recording in Control Centre; on Android, Screen record in Quick Settings.
Is there a time limit or a watermark?
Neither. Long recordings need room on your device: a 1080p screen recording takes roughly 1 GB an hour. Use Pause when there’s nothing to record, and keep this tab open until you’ve downloaded the video.
