Questions
Is this coin flip fair?
Yes: heads and tails each have exactly a 50% chance. Each flip comes from your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, and the side is decided before the coin starts to turn.
How does best of 3 work?
You flip one coin at a time, and the first side to win 2 flips wins the match (3 in best of 5), so a match can end early. The next flip after that starts a new match.
Why do I keep getting the same side?
Streaks are normal with a fair coin. In 20 flips, a run of 4 or more of the same side turns up about three times in four, and a run of 5 or more almost half the time. Each flip is independent: after five heads, the next one is still 50–50.
Can I flip without the animation?
Yes. If your device is set to reduce motion, the result appears at once. Every result is also announced to screen readers, and the tally gives heads, tails and streaks as text.
