Questions
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Colors are converted in your browser on this device, as you type, and nothing is stored.
What do the three HSL numbers mean?
Hue is the place on the color wheel, in degrees: 0 is red, 120 green and 240 blue. Saturation goes from gray (0%) to full color (100%), and lightness from black (0%) through the pure color (50%) to white (100%).
Why does the HSL value have decimals?
Hex codes name about 16.7 million colors and whole-number HSL can’t name them all, so rounding to whole numbers could bring you back one shade off. One decimal place is enough to return to exactly the same hex code.
