How to annotate a PDF

  1. Choose a PDF, or drop it onto the page.
  2. Drag across words with the highlighter, or choose Underline, Strikethrough, Draw, Arrow or Comment. Click one word to mark just that word.
  3. Select Save PDF and download the annotated file to share it.

Questions

Is my PDF uploaded to annotate it?

No. Highlights, drawings and comments are all added by your browser on this device, and the PDF is never sent to a server.

Will other people see my comments?

Yes. Comments are saved as standard PDF comments, so Adobe Acrobat Reader, web browsers, Preview on a Mac and other PDF readers show them, usually as a note icon that opens, and list them with the document’s comments.

Why doesn’t the highlighter follow the words on my PDF?

Some PDFs are scans: pictures of pages with no text inside them. There the highlighter marks the box you drag instead. On a PDF with real text, it follows the words line by line.

Can I change a highlight after adding it?

Yes. Choose Select and click the highlight, or pick it from the list under Options. You can move it, resize it, change its colour or delete it, and Undo takes back any step.
