Argentina’s official time, as of 2026
- Argentina uses UTC−3 all year, three hours behind Greenwich, in every province. The Navy’s Hydrographic Service (Servicio de Hidrografía Naval) keeps the country’s official time.
- Argentina last had summer time in the 2008–2009 summer.
- By longitude most of Argentina would be on UTC−4, which is why the sun rises and sets late. A bill to set the clocks back an hour in winter passed the Chamber of Deputies in 2025, but as of November 2026 it isn’t law.

Questions
What time zone is Argentina in?
Argentina Time (ART): as of 2026, UTC−3 all year, with no daylight saving time. That’s the same as São Paulo and Montevideo and, in the southern winter, an hour ahead of Santiago de Chile.
Is Argentina going to change its time zone?
In 2025 the Chamber of Deputies approved a bill to move the clocks back an hour from April to August, but the Senate hasn’t passed it, so as of November 2026 Argentina stays on UTC−3. If the rules change, this clock follows as soon as your browser updates.
What’s the time difference between Argentina and Spain?
As of 2026, Buenos Aires is 4 hours behind Madrid in the European winter and 5 hours behind in the European summer, since Spain changes its clocks and Argentina doesn’t.
