Botsnatcher: the AI impostor game
A social deduction game for meetings. Each round, one player is secretly told to answer like an AI chatbot, polite, upbeat and a little too thorough, while everyone else answers as themselves. The answers line up with no names, and the team votes on which one came from the bot.
- Formats: BOT?
One of you is a bot. Probably.
Each round, one player secretly answers like an AI chatbot. Everyone else answers as themselves, then you vote to unmask the bot. Three or more players, one or two minutes a round.
How to play
- Each round one player is secretly the bot and answers like an AI chatbot.
- Everyone else answers as themselves. The answers line up with no names.
- Vote for the bot. Humans score for catching it, the bot for each human it fools.

Best bot impressions
Botsnatcher sends the names, answers and votes you enter through our server to the other players in your room. No AI is involved, and there’s no sign-up. A room and everything in it is deleted an hour after everyone leaves. Privacy

How to play Botsnatcher
- Enter your name and press Create a room. Share the invite link (or the QR code) in your meeting chat.
- Choose a prompt pack, the number of rounds and the timers, then press Start the interrogation when at least three people are in.
- Press Show my secret role. One player is the bot and answers the prompt the way an AI chatbot would; everyone else answers as themselves.
- The answers line up as anonymous suspects. Vote for the one you think the bot wrote (the bot votes too, to blend in).
- Watch the unmasking: 2 points for each human who caught the bot, and the bot gets a point for every human it fooled. The last round counts double.
- Everyone takes a turn as the bot. At the end, see the podium and copy a recap of the best bot impressions.
Questions
Is there a real AI in the game?
No. The bot is always one of the players, doing their best impression of a chatbot. Nothing anyone writes is sent to an AI service, and the prompts are written by us.
How do I answer like a chatbot?
When you’re the bot, the page gives you a few tips: start with “Great question!”, stay relentlessly positive, offer a tidy list, add a polite disclaimer, end by offering more help. Or play it the other way and sound so casual that nobody suspects you.
Who becomes the bot?
It rotates fairly: whoever has been the bot least often goes next, picked at random among them, and never the same person twice in a row if anyone else can be. With one round each, everyone gets a turn. Only the bot is told; our server sends nobody else that secret until the unmasking.
How does scoring work?
Each human who votes for the bot’s answer gets 2 points. The bot gets 1 point for every human who votes for someone else. The last round counts double, so a game is never decided too early.
How do we play it on a video call?
The host creates a room and pastes the link in the meeting chat, and everyone opens it on their own device. For the shared screen, the host opens Presenter view from the menu and shares that window: it shows the prompt, the lineup and the scores in big type, but never anyone’s secret role.
What goes to your server, and how long is it kept?
For everyone to play together, the names people join with, their answers, their votes and the room’s settings pass through our server to the other players in the room. There are no accounts. A room is deleted, with everything in it, an hour after the last person leaves, and at the latest a day after anyone last did anything in it. We never log names or answers.
How many people can play, and for how long?
From 3 to 16 people. A round takes one to two minutes with the default timers; choose one round each, or 3 to 16 rounds. Timers are optional, anyone can ask for 30 more seconds once per timer, and the host can skip ahead or turn the timer off.
Is it accessible?
Yes. Everything works with a keyboard, screen readers hear each phase, your role (when you ask for it), the lineup and the results, timers can be extended or turned off, and animations become simple fades when your device asks for reduced motion. Sound effects are off unless you turn them on.
